Word of the Week: Phlog
Hello again friends. This weeks word of the week doesn’t even sound real does it? Phlog. A mashup of the words photo and blog. (Which itself is a mashed up word.) A phlog is very similar to a blog with the exception of the fact that the emphasis is placed on photographs rather than words. Some great examples of phlogs are topleftpixel.com, 50mm and on of my personal favourites Todd Alperovitz’s The Jump Project. A short lived phlog in which a man photographed himself jumping in the air everyday for a month. It’s a fun site and the photos look really cool. As you can see from each of these examples, there is definitely text involved but it is mainly to enhance your understanding and appreciation of the photographs. They are what you a really there for.
Use:
I really wanted to share my photography so I have started a new phlog.
or
I think I will phlog this picture.
From Wikipedia:
A photoblog (or photolog, or phlog) is a form of photo sharing and publishing in the format of a blog. It differs from a blog through the predominant use of and focus on photographs rather than text.
